Saki monkeys are a group of about 16 different species in the Pithecia genus.

They live all across South America from South Colombia to Central Brazil. Saki, any of seven species of arboreal South American monkeys having long nonprehensile furred tails. Pale-headed saki monkeys, or white-faced saki monkeys, are named for the male's appearance. The aptly named monk saki monkey in Colombia (Pithecia monachus).

The “true” sakis of the genus Pithecia are approximately 30–50 cm (12–20 inches) long, not including the bushy, tapering tail of 25–55 cm. Saki Monkey is a more common name for any primate that is a member of the Pithecia genus. They are arboreal and live in the trees of rainforest regions. The saki is a primarily arboreal monkey, spending almost their entire life in the trees. He was born at Shalton Wildlife Trust to Desmond and his mate. The saki’s habitat is still fairly pristine, but the scientists worry its proximity to Brazil’s “arc of deforestation” and hunting pressure may threaten the species in the future.
